Building Block

Such clean, simple, well designed bags. The leather tassels and wood accent beads contrast the minimalist construction wonderfully. We want.

Hung Up in the Ivory

The deluxe version of Bon Iver's latest album came out last week, and with it, ten short films for each song.  Here is the short film for "Michitant," directed by Isaac Gale and David Jensen.  The song seems to recount a young boys memory - the lyrics rich with cryptic description. Justin Vernon's earthy voice and oblique storytelling as the narration to the magical imagery of forests, water, light and mirrored reflections is just too damn good.

Winter Detail

Luxurious. Velvet, fur, big wool hats, warm sweaters and a dark red on the lips...these are the things that get us through the tough Pacific Northwest winter. Then comes spring and summer, we revel in it, and wish to be bundled up again. Isn't the grass always greener?

Home

Home in Marin for Thanksgiving.  Mill Valley is such a special place, and this song and film from the 70s shows just that.

Turned Out

I recently stumbled upon Turned Out, a Los Angeles based but global fashion/street style blog. The fusion between street style shots and editorial style photography caught my eye and I find myself checking for updates daily. It's different from most street style blogs; it's smart, tasteful and intriguing.  Notable are the sweet fashion flipbooks. Take a look here.

Layered

Wool, sandwiched between two layers of cotton and stitched together tightly. You really couldn't ask for a better defense against the late fall chill. I'll be spending my non-food consuming hours tomorrow finishing up a quilt I've been working on for a little over a year now. However you spend your day tomorrow I hope it's filled with warmth and love.

You Are All I See

I just saw this group, Active Child, open up for M83 at Neumo's in Seattle last week. What a treat to be blown away by an opener!  Really loving the title-track from their album, You Are All I See.  Beautiful, eery, ethereal.  Plus, homeboy plays the harp.

Taupe Chic

Ahhh, taupe. In my mind it's the "blank canvas-year round staple-forever chic" color.

Ria found a sweet cropped swing coat while thrifting this afternoon, in said color. I, coincidentally, am dressed in variants of taupe today thus inspiring me to find the best and brightest taupe pieces from S/S 2012.

Common Burn

Haven't been able to turn this song off in the past few weeks.  It's Mazzy Star's newest single in fifteen years, and is exactly the kind of mood and tone I've been yearning to hear these days.  They're absolutely one of my favorite alternative dream-pop 90s bands, and this seamless comeback is the perfect music accompaniment to fall.

Remnants of Fall

These ladies are looking oh so good in their Fall/Indian Summer garb.

Fall came and went, here in Seattle, before the blink of an eye. Now we are constantly bundled, hunched over to avoid the moisture and a wee bit cranky from the lack of sunshine. It works out in our favor because we always have an excuse to stay cozy inside, drink tea and build forts with old quilts. The short days make us ten times more focused and productive. We <3 Seattle.

Picked up a copy of this amazing book on my most recent trip back to San Francisco. Our friends over at Press Works on Paper have a wonderfully curated selection of vintage books, small press publications, pens, pencils and oodles of other paper oriented goodies.

County Line

One of my favorite music videos so far this year.  Makes me want to take the perfect, rugged road trip through Mexico, Texas and New Orleans listening to this dreamy music.
